Massachusetts Police Officer and Husband Face Multiple Child Sexual Assault Charges

In a shocking case that has rocked Massachusetts, a local police officer and her husband have been charged with multiple counts of child sexual assault, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney's office. The accused, 31-year-old Officer Samantha Pelrine and her husband, Daniel Forand, were taken into custody at their home by Massachusetts State Police without incident.

Pelrine, who served in the Massachusetts Police Department, is facing three counts of aggravated rape of a child and one count of statutory rape of a child, according to court documents. Her husband, Forand, is facing 20 separate charges, which include rape of a child, indecent assault and battery on a person 14 years or older, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The alleged crimes reportedly took place over a period of several years, spanning from 2018 through 2025, though some charges specifically reference incidents in 2019 and 2020. The case came to light when a 21-year-old man walked into the Massachusetts State Police Barracks on March 15, 2026, to report that he had been assaulted by Forand, and in later instances, by both Forand and Pelrine.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, with state police and the district attorney’s office working to gather additional evidence and interview potential witnesses. Law enforcement officials emphasized that the alleged assaults are “extremely serious,” and assured the public that every effort is being made to ensure justice is served.

The community has reacted with shock and disbelief at the accusations, given Pelrine’s position as a law enforcement officer, which traditionally carries with it a responsibility to protect the public. “It is particularly disturbing when someone entrusted with public safety is accused of committing such heinous acts,” said a spokesperson from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office.

Court documents indicate that Pelrine and Forand remain in custody, and both are expected to face arraignment in the coming weeks.

Legal experts anticipate that the case will involve a lengthy and complex trial, given the number of charges and the sensitive nature of the allegations.

This case has raised broader concerns about oversight within law enforcement and the mechanisms in place to prevent abuse by those in positions of authority. Advocates for child protection have called for increased vigilance, stricter background checks, and better reporting protocols to ensure such cases are identified and addressed promptly.

As the investigation continues, the Massachusetts State Police are urging anyone with information related to this case to come forward. The Plymouth County District Attorney’s office has also confirmed that support services will be made available to the alleged victims and their families.

This developing story highlights a disturbing instance of alleged abuse of power and the urgent need for accountability, reminding the public that even those sworn to protect can be subject to criminal behavior. Updates will be provided as the investigation and legal proceedings continue.
